BTTB Awards Winners for 2010 Announced
Pacific Brands wins 2010 BTTB Travel Programme of the Year Award
Pacific Brands was named Travel Programme of the Year at the 2010 BTTB Travel Management Awards.
Category manager Damon Rapke received the award at a gala dinner at the Sofitel Wentworth Sydney on 5th May, sponsored by Qantas.
The marketer of iconic brands such as Dunlop and Bonds was cited for its adoption of online self-booking, achieving 90% adoption within three months; implementation of an automated expense management system, transitioning 4,500 travellers from a multitude of manual expense forms onto a singular, online system over a four-month period; and for the introduction of a comprehensive Traveller Risk Management System, details of which were presented in a workshop at the BTTB Australia conference.
Rapke paid tribute to his colleagues and staff, to his suppliers, including former TMC American Express and current travel manager Voyager Travel, and to his industry peers.
Besides a trophy, Pacific Brands won a business class trip anywhere on the Qantas network to undertake a study tour.

Karen Tsolakis of Qantas presents the BTTB Travel Manager of the Year Award to Damon Rapke of Pacific Brands. Thye are joined by Allan Leibowitz, Editor of Business Travel Monthly and Chairman of the Judges. |
Pacific Brands was selected ahead of two other finalists, banking and insurance giant Suncorp and previous finalist the University of Southern Queensland, in the first unified (non-size-specific) awards.
Business Travel Monthly editor Allan Leibowitz says the three top programmes were determined in a hotly contested nomination process which this year attracted a record number of entries – almost all from first-time nominees.
At the ceremony, which opened with a rousing rendition of “I Still Call Australia Home” by the Australian Girls Choir/Qantas Choir, BTTB managing director Nigel Wardropper presented five supplier awards, with the winners chosen by customers in an online poll in which clients identified suppliers which had exceeded their expectations and delivered exceptional solutions and service.
The 2010 winners were:
- Voyager Travel - Travel Management Services
- InCharge Group - Expense Management Services.
- Serko Online - Technology Services.
- conTgo - Traveller Services.
- Butler Caroye - Consultancy Services.
Butler Caroye was also inducted into the Hall of Fame after winning the award three times.
